Marlin 925MC, 22 WMR, can trigger be lightened?

Bought a Marlin bolt action 925MC rifle in 22 mag, took it out, got it zeroed at 75 yards, whacked a few prairie dogs that were dumb enough to hang around while I was sighting in, but the trigger pull feels like its about 12 pounds. Can a gunsmith lighten or smooth out the trigger pull on a Marlin 22 rifle? Are they adjustable?

  It is possible, you can pretty much do it yourself if you have the confidence to take your trigger group out and inspect it for heavy grease.
  You also need to look at the possibility that you might need some smoothing of the sear surface; you're not removing metal, you're burnishing what's there.
  Check out brownells.com for the Hard Arkansas Stone you'll need, and a video from AGI. Then get some TW25 (Kleenbore) lube, and try your handywork.
  Anyone that tells you to cut a spring without actually seeing the gun shouldn't be your gunsmith.
