Several friends and I recently stopped in a large sportings good store in Loveland Colorado. They refused to sell us a rifle because we were not from an adjoining state, I know that this was true for handguns but was not aware this was the case with rifles. We have bought rifles in several Western states while hunting out there with no problems. We left that store and stopped in another well known sporting goods store in Ft. Collins and after a background check bought the rifle. The first guy claimed it was a state law. Anybody know for sure? Anyway the first store lost sales of a Ruger #1, a CZ 527 and a TC Encore barrel.

    According to my most recent edition of State Laws and Published Ordinances-Firearms, as provided every FFL holder, the first dealer was correct as respects purchasing of long guns according to Colorodo law.

    Handguns must be purchased through a dealer in your state of residence with a very few exceptions.
