Help Colt Detective Special (Old Model)

I have the above item. It is old but new and I believe unfired. Blueing is 100%. Cylinder has been turned but all blueing is still there. 38 Special, 2" barrell, Serial number is A-118xx, Grips are perfect and sharp with a Tyler grip attachment. Serial number on Gun, Grips, and box all match. Cardboard box is perfect with no crushed corners or non Colt marks on it. Bottom is red and black and top is a brown wood grained finish. Yellow Colt end marking on box is 100% there and not faded with no corners bent or missing. Hope I have given enough information. There is no Colt manual. My question is

1. Year or approximate year of manufacture
2. Value of item

  My Colt book shows 1970 for manufacture date.

  My data shows that Colt only used the "A" prefix for (2) years, 1969 & 1970. The serial number you have given us, doesn't seem to agree with the reference data though.
  
  B.B. values revolver in the condition you have given us, between $450 & $550.
