Redfield scope Info wanted

I have a Redfield scope that I've had for about 8yrs. and would like some info on it. I'm going to say it dates to the mid 70's - mid 80's. All it says on the side of the adjusting knob is Redfield 3X-9X, no SN. It has the "TV screen" on both ends. The power adjustment has a little metal thumb stud on it. I have heard that Redfield used to be a very good scope maker until mfg problems, and wondered if this one could have been made during their "good days". I've also been told it may be called something like wide/low. Do the older Redfield scopes have any collector value? If anyone can figure out what it is, I'd like to know what model it is along with possible mfg. dates. Just for the record, its never let me down hunting, never knocked off zero, and wouldnt trade it for a new one.[:)] Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

    That scope model was called the widefield. The first models had a round objective lens and the "TV Screen" ocular lens. I believe later models were called "Low Profile Widefield" and had a TV screen shaped objective as well as ocular lens. The benefit of the low profile was that it could be mounted lower over the line of the rifle bore. The top of the line of these scopes had a range finder feature. I don't know when Redfield began cheapening their scopes. I think yours is one of the good ones but so many were produced that I doubt it will have much collector value in the near future.

    Built 1976-1985+ In 2000 Stroebel put the value at $175-$250 depending upon condition, with a $25 premium for the rangerfinder feature.

    Thanks guys, as always ya'll come through for me. Mine doesn't have the range finder, but looks like I took it out of the box yesterday. Not selling it, like I said, its been a good scope, just wanted to know a little about it. My pops got first dibs on it anyways[:D]. Thanks again,

    Look around gun shows and gun shops. There are usually a few, if you want another and usually priced fair. Tasco and Weaver also made a couple versions similiar. Tasco, so-so, Weaver, comparable. I sure like the ones I have.

    GOOD SCOPE (I'VE GOT ONE I USE AS A 'TRY' SCOPE ON COMPLETED RIFLES), OPTICS ARE NOT UP TO TODAYS STANDARDS. THERE ARE MANY CLEARER, BRIGHTER SCOPES ON THE MARKET TODAY.
