Best way to pocket carry a Colt Mustang

Hello,

Can I get some opinions on various ways to pocket carry a Mustang other then "cocked and locked".

  Chamber empty, Safey - OFF
  
  Produce the weapon and just rack the slide and the pistol will be loaded, hammer back (cocked) and ready to fire.

  I either carry mine in the waistband in a simple leather IWB holster or in my right front pocket (I am right handed) in the same holster. Since it is a "1911" I carry cocked and locked. There is a company that makes a cool pocket holster but it is $50 http://klnullholsters.com/. One other neat thing to get is a mag clip like this http://www.safariland.com/products.asp?id=165. I know they make them in several models, they are light small, cheap, and work well.

  If it has an inertia type firing pin like the 1911 and the HiPower then an alternate carry mode can be with the hammer fully forward on a loaded chamber. The benefit is you can cock it with one hand since that's all you may have in an emergency.
  The downside or risk is that you have to know your gun well and have the dexterity not to drop the hammer while you're lowering it. If it goes off with a thumb or two behind the slide, you will certainly hurt yourself.
  A carry gun should not require manipulation to get into action.
  If cocked and locked bothers you, consider a double action pistol or revolver.

  I agree with V35, especially the last line... If you are seeking an alternative method due to being insecure with that particular firearm, then I'd choose a different one. I carry a Kel-tec DAO .380 in a nice molded leather pocket holster. I carry it with one in the chamber at all times and never give it a second thought. Just make sure the trigger is covered for this type of carry...
  
  You MUST be comfortable with your CCW arm so keep looking 'til you find the right one!

  I USED to carry a S&W 640, but because it was so heavy I only carried when I "thought" I may need to carry. I sold it and bought a Kel Tec P3AT .380. It's light, very reliable, compact, and even though it's a .380, it's better than not carrying at all. You'll forget it's even in your pocket after a while.
