AK RIVITS?

what kind of tool do i need to put the rivits in?,..im thinking about making a ak from scratch (meaning parts kit)

i did some repair work to one of mine and while i had it all opened up,.i took a closer look,..it all seems pretty simple,.i just dont know if ill need something other than a hammer.

any help/advice would be great

    100% on the money man,..i have a pop rivit tool and about 100,000 assorted pop rivits of all kinds of size and shape,.............(put ground effects kits on my ride and the cars of a few others)

    i need something for the real deal,..strong as heck standard AK rivits,. that take a while to file/grind/ drill through,..i learned how to take them out when i did a conversion on my saiga,.. but i know ill need the tool to put them in if i decide to take on the task im kicking around in my head

    Geez you guys make it so complicated.

    Go to any place that sells air tools.
    You want a round muffler air chisel bit..
    If you can find the soild round bit, take any old round air chisel bit and cut it where it becomes round.

    This will become your AK rivit head sitter, to use with a big hammer or with a air chisel tool.

    Push comes to shove use a old round screw driver and cut the tip off.
    Then use that as your punch to set the rivits heads.

    But you also need a bucking bar to fit inside of the reciever, any hardware store should have "blocks of steel".
    To buck ( to smash the ends of the rivits inside of the reciever) the backsides of the rivits.

    Preferred size would be a 1/2" thick, 1/2" wide & 6" long, which in some areas of the reciever will have to be ground down to fit inside of the reciver, in the tight areas.

    A couple of spare rivits are god send, cause you will screw at least one of them up.

    wow alot of info on that there thank you all for the advice
