Hey Bobski???

I read your sticky post about Hi Standard, and I have one question and a recomendation. First the question, you have 9mm listed as a caliber. I only collect letter models, but I don't ever remember anything about a factory 9mm. I know they made all kinds of prototype guns in several calibers, but I don't remember a factory 9mm. The recommedation I have is to get Charles Petty's book. It is out of print, but very informative. I had a chance to talk with Mr. Petty for a period of time while he authenticated one of my pistols. He is a wealth of information.

    when hi std was involved in prototypes for military use, they built 9mm's. they were never offered to the public, but none the less, they were built and are the rariest of all hi stds. thus, they must be listed as a caliber made by hi std. they were d.action 9mm's that looked like berettas. only real die hard collectors own, or have seen, these guns. i have. i thought i'd take liberties to educate the masses with this tidbit! thanks for your insight. btw...i have revisions to my subject, but the staff has locked me out of my own post and i cant update it! :>

    Ok Bobski, I didn't know that you were including the protos. I thought maybe they made a 9mm that I didn't know about. They also made protos in 45 didn't they?

    yep. and technically, since hi standard is now making 1911 style 45's out of tx, i guess you could say 45 is a caliber too!:>
