A5 year

I just got an A5 from helping my dad build a house. He's had it for years and it's a good bird gun but the barrel has been cut. I was wondering what year it was so I could buy a barrel for it. I thought maybe someone on this forum could tell me what year it was. There's one more thing that I've always wondered about the safety because it's on the front of the trigger not on the back I've never seen one like that around any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The serial number is 298759 but above the serial number is an FN with a circle around it. Could u tell me what the FN stands for?

    I don't have my serial number listing handy at the moment, but I can positively tell you that it was made prior to 1958
