    Not absolutely sure? BUT, it appears to be a High Standard.

    yep, two tone small knob high standard slant grip. circa 1937 to 48. commomly found in alphabet series guns and the infamous HD military. specific age can be determined by whether is has a groove running down the back strap. if you decide to toss it, send it my way![:D]

    Yes it has a groove running down the back. I thought it was a HS but several other makers were a possibility as well. So what is the vintage with a groove?quote:Originally posted by bobski

    it is the earlier version where the groove helped align and feed on older guns. the little feed spring button is the giveaway. the small button is designed to lift the slide catch on last shot. its small to match the size of the slide catch lever assy which use to be round on earlier guns. when they switched to a flat bar type slide catch, they increased the size of the button. the reason the mag is 2 tone is the way it went thru blueing. they use to dangle them by the top and it stuck out of the tank when it got dipped. your mag should be advertised as "correct mag for alphabet and hammer guns, A,D,E,HD) but will work in all slant grip guns."

    It looks like a High Standard. It will probably fit several models but looks like one for a model H-A. Bill
