anybody know anything about this pistol

my dad gave me this old pistol that his brother brought back from the war.this is what is says on the side selbstlade-pistole cal. 7.65.walthers-patent. serial number 64124. I am just curious as to the age and where he could of got it. I think dad said that it came from a german officer. thank you

  The slide legend was used on Walthers made during the W W I era.
  
  The most commonly encountered is the Model 4, it's estimated over 200,000 Model 4's were made. The W W I versions made for the German Military are of interest to collectors if in original, very good condition or better.
