Do you use lock-tight on scope mounts?

Really I have two questions. Do you recommend the use of lock-tight or a similar solution on scope mounts and/or rings? I always have done this but a close friend upon hearing of my practice has told me that it is totally unecessary. I do not shoot anything larger than a 7mm08.

Second question - if you are up to it. Does anyone have an opinion of Millet rings vs. Leupold or Burris or other more well known brands? Or have I just missed a good company for this long?

    I use Loc-Tite or similar on the rails but not the rings. Personal preference though.

    Any rings are good as long as they're steel. Again, personal preference.

    lock tite the screws that go into the receiver (blue for light recoil, red for heavy), a little powdered rosin on the scope rings and you are a set. millet rings work as well as the others, just not finished as nice

    Using lock tight on the bases is a good thing, but not so good on the rings themselves. Call it good insurance.
    Burris signature rings are a favorite to lots of people.

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

    I've never had an occasion where I needed Loctite,but I guess I'd use it if I were having a problem.

    I have never needed it, but I do lap the rings.

    I use blue on rings and bases. As far as rings go, I like Burris the best. The biggest problem I find with rings is cheap screws.

    No I don't. I clean the threads of oil and grease with break cleaner and alcohol, then tighten the screws in the correct order. Compress the threads by using the correct size driver instead of that crappy curved junk they include in the package. I buy craftsman drivers (screwdrivers with the torx or hex head) for like $3.99 and they are FOREVER. Anyway,..back to "compressing" the threads,....as they start to tighten up,..I smack the driver with a light hammer/mallet, then turn a bit more,..then another light hit, then tighten. This will give a great hold with no loktite.

    I have used loktite, and when heated it will release eventually.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
