HANGING YUGO

I marked a page in a magazine last night that had some '50s 8mm 196gr for cheap. I planned on buying that (corrosive) ammo just to pull the bullets. Of Three, Two of my Yugos do not feed anything that is soft point. A spire point fmj will feed more often, but still has some failures.

Both fail the same way, the tip of the bullet catches on the top edge of the chamber and will not feed. If you bring the bolt home fast and hard you only have about 2 in 10 hang, but you are slamming in a round awfully hard for knowing some will hang.

I have tested some 'dummy' reloads and they feed better if seated with an OAL that is 0.04 over, hence my interest in heavier,longer pills.

One fella at the range said to take some material off the 'cross piece' that guides the round out of the well as the bolt picks it up and pushes it along. Both of the 'hanging' guns show signs that someone has done just that, and one is an extra crappy job. Could this fella have it reversed ? The one yugo that feeds normally has a 'taller' cross piece that has not been reduced.

I can't sell this to someone, knowing it may be FUBAR.
I am going to tear down one of the two that hang and try SOMETHING. My first choice is to build one of the 'feed guides' back up to what looks normal with some material I can later remove if that fails.

ANY ADVICE before I take a leap that may lead to a floor lamp to match my Mosin floor lamp ?
