Remington 1187 SPS?
Hi All!
I am looking to buy an Auto 12. The most reasonably priced and well recommended one I've come across is the 1187 SPS 12/26. I read a lot about the Supermag (3.5") version having problems cycling 2.75" shells. Since I mostly hunt Upland and Turkey but would also like to shot clays with it, I was thinking of going with the 3" model. Does anyone have the 3" and does it hunt ok and is there any problems with 2.75 shells?

there has always been a complaint about the gun firing 2 3/4", 3" both well. some guns are ok some arent.
its hit or miss.
personally, i'd stick with a 2 3/4" for clays and 3" mag for hunt. its been in my observation the minute you start mixing 'do all' guns into a game, problems occur. thats just me. im sure youll here other say theyve had good success with them. lets see!

I run a 3" 1187. I had always heard that the 1187 wouldn't run 2 _" shells consistently, so I wanted to find out for myself. It ran fine until somewhere between 800 to 1000 rounds. Then it started having a little problem ejecting the 2 _ " shells. A THOROUGH cleaning put it right back in working order again. Haven't had any other problem with it. (So far [;)])
I wonder if those that have had problems with lighter loads, didn't clean it often enough? Hmmm.....don't know, just a thought.

My first 1187 had no problems cycleing 2 3/4 shells. This spring I bought the new 1187 super mag.It is very fussy about what 3 1/2 inch shells it will shoot.It won`t handle Winchester or Federal as they are slightly longer than Remington shells. 0 -
Mine won't eject about 3 out of 4 of the 2 3/4" shells. Clean, dirty, doesn't matter. Anyone got suggestions? Are there lighter spring kits available?

Thanks Guys, I guess I should think on it a little more. Has anyone had luck with other makes of Auto 12s like the Win X or Benelli models? 0
