220Swift in a long action

I am wondering if I can convert a ruger 300win mag to 220swift. I have a ruger 300win mag and would like to have another rifle which is the same weight and handling characteristics as this but in 220swift. Is it possible to have such a long action converted to 220swift and still have it feed the bullets ok?

    I am left handed. I have a Ruger 77mk11 in 300 winmag. I have come to the realization that Ruger never made a short action left hand, so I am wondering how it would be,if it were possible to re-barrel a Ruger long action, to 220swift. Would the bullets feed from the magazine? This way I could have two identical handling rifles in the calibres I love to shoot. any advice?

    I don't beleive the magnum boltface of your rifle will make the best foundation for a 220 swift. You may wish to trade it for a left hand rifle with the correct boltface dia.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I used to own a long action Savage 110 in .223, it worked fine. The purists will try to tell you that the short actions are stiffer and thusly have the potential for greater accuracy. This maybe true but unless the rifle is built with a truely premeium barrel and you are a much better then average shooter I doubt that you will ever really see the difference. The lefty format of the action would seem to out weigh the disadvantages, still there are other actions you might want to consider. If you do decide to go the Ruger long action route, be sure to get an action with a standard bolt face as Ruger bolts are not easy to come by.
