Police shotgun: pistol grip or straight stock?

I was at the gun store the other day when a local deputy came in and asked that question. Iwas just wondering if there is a "proven" answer or if it's just a matter of personal preference? I am not talking about just a pistol grip but more of the shoulder stock+pistol grip thing (think Benelli steady grip). Some armchair warrior was saying that the AR15 colapsible stock adaptors are the best...
Any input from the LEOs?

    In my experience, and this is purely subjective, I have found the shoulder stocked defense shotguns will allow better control of the gun.

    A pistol grip, shoulder stock is nice too.

    Shoot all of the configurations you can befoe making up your mind and shoot all posssible loads in them when you have the opportunity. You'll figure it out VERY quickly.

    I would suggest staying with the shoulder stock. Remember that the wrist only rotates to a certain point in any direction and in the case of a struggle and a person gets ahold of the barrel it can be taken out of your hands, with the shoulder stock it can be tucked between the arm and torso and will be more difficult to have it taken.

    Just pistol grip = cool and fun. Stock or my preference Pistol griped stock = serious. I know this is going to sound funny to some but you cant aim with a pistol grip or if you do try your cheek is going to hurt. I like the the pistol grip since it puts my hand in a more natural positon. The down side to this grip can be saftey location. I would never put a pistol grip stock on my Mossbug 500 since the safty is on the top. I love my Benelli M1 tatical with the oversized safty on it since it falls in line with the trigger.

    we put on the speed feed pistol grip+shoulder stock 3 years ago and i did not think i would like them. after the first range session i was sold. they are nice. Good service from speed feed also.

    I fired a 12GA with a pistol grip and I'm looking forward to doing it again. Painful and anything but pratictal. Looks cool though...

    So, so far it seems like the pistol griped stock gets more votes.
    That would probably be my choice too but I have never used a "tactical" shotgun so I was looking for hands on
    experience.

    I don't want a pistol grip on anything but a pistol. My favorite 870 has a Speedfeed stock on it.

    stock. period. shotguns were designed to be pointed, not aimed.

    I prefer pistol grips on pump guns.I feel it helps cut down on the recoil your shoulder feels.You get a better grip with a pistol than a straight stock.

    I have an FN Tactical w/ a collaspable stock and pistol grip. It took about a box of rounds to find center.(Probably because of the lack of rake.) It now lays 'em where I'm looking without thought. It also "peeks" around corners well. I can go back to my conventional shotguns without problems.

    "Peeking" a long gun around a corner is a good way to hand it over to an adversary. JMHO.

    I own a couple of 12 pumps with pistol grips of the type in the second picture, I consider them display/investment pieces only.

    If it moves, salute it. If it doesn't move, pick it up. If you can't pick it up, paint it.
