CURIOS and RELICS

could the experts confirm or reject my understanding of the fed definition of curios and/or relics. any firearm is a curio and/or relic if it is more than 50 years old from the present date. i recognize there are other qualifying categories for these types but im concerned about the age spec. thanx.

    Hey guy's I recently got my C&R and just purchased a Vz24. Im wondering if there are any online forms for cataloging purchased firearms? I received a booklet from the ATF and it gives an example of one with the obvious, Date of purchase, serial #, manufacturer etc etc but I'm wondering if there is an official one out there somewhere I can download or print off. I want to be to the T legally speaking but I cant seem to find anything online and most of the linked pages to the ATF website are broken links. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

    LIBIA: Trade name used by Beistegui Hermanos, c. 1914/1920 Made what was and is commonly called The RUBY...! There were probably 50 or more makers of what was called the Ruby......The Beistegui Hermanos Company is/was one of these Contractors...What You discribe is a Copy of the Model 1914 that was being made by Gabilondo for the French, Italians and Romanians. Because the Gabilondo Company could'nt fulfil thier obligation for the guns ordered by the French, had to sub-contract with other small Gun Makers to be able to meet the obligations.....Beistegui Hermanos was one of these Sub-Contractors...Beistegui Hermanos also Made Copies of the Mauser Model C-96 Pistol....called the Model 900...Machine Pistola.....
    Your RUBY is more than likely considered a Curio and Relic...Not Worth Much to a Collector unless its absolutely Mint.....$75.00 for a shooter........

    I thought any pistol over 50 years old was C&R eligible if in original configuration, which this one almost certainly is.

    But can you prove it? I don't know. . .here is the "official" list. . .I don't think your gun is listed.

    But even assuming it is C&R eligible, I'm not sure there is much of an advantage, unless you want to sell it. For a gun worth under $100 it probably isn't worth shipping anywhere.

    As a rule, any firearm > 50 years old is considered by BATFE to be a C&R. It doesn't have to be on their C&R list. The C&R list is not inclusive; it just contains guns which, at some time, someone asked a specific question about.

    Some things can remove a firearm from the C&R catagory: a military gun that is no longer in original issue configuration, an imcomplete gun, the frame of a C&R, a C&R barrelled action, & a gun whose caliber has been changed.
