Falling Block Frame Age Question
Can anyone tell me about how old this frame is? All it has on it is "Falling Block Works Maybee , Mich." with a J555 near the trigger stamped on the frame. The Gunbroker auction number is 33721769. Thanks

That frame is a modern (less than 15 years old) quasi reproduction of the Browning/Winchester high-wall.

A friend of mine has one in 25-20. He is of the impression that all the falling block works actions are set up for rimmed case cartridges. Because the company has been kaput for over 20yrs and there wasn't ever a large number made, spare parts are a problem. His firing pin broke and he had to send out to a top rated gunsmith to have a new one reverse engineered and made up for it. It took over 1/2 a year to get done. They come in two sizes the J frame and the K frame. The J is the smaller of the two and it would make a really nice 22 Hornet or something like that. The K is the larger and there is a complete rifle on GB in the K frame chambered for the 219 Donaldson Wasp. Exactly where the cartridge safty cutoff points are is unknown to me. I think my friend is thinking on bidding on the one on GB to pick up for spare parts for his 25-20. 0 -
