Info on the Savage "Favorite" falling block rifles

I'm thinking that a rimfire falling block rifle would be a good addition to my collection. I've looked at several of the new Favorite rifles that Savage is putting out that based on the Stevens design. For the money it seems like a good buy in either 22WMR or 17HMR, but what I want to know is how do they shoot? Savage has a good rep these days for barrel making, does this apply to the Favorite as well? Also is the trigger ok, or do they need work. Let me know what you know and think about it.

  savage made first run of these repro's in 70's & i have rechambered a bunch to 22 mag ...have to put a small notch in hammer to clear extracting shell....works fine pins are strong enough..new series is available in 22,22mag, 17.....model 71 joshua stevens commememorative had better wood, medalion, & gold trigger...i prefer the older model myself....nice looking, lite to carry

  I've looked at the new ones and they're ok,I guess,but I'd go for an old original in good shape any day.
  
  Looked at one yesterday at the gun show in 90% condition.They were asking $239.If I didn't have a truck payment due,I'da brought it home with me.

  ern,I recently made the same choice.I've seen a few of the new guns and was not impressed with their looks or quality. Don't know how they shoot. Go with an original or one of these:www.varnerguns.com
