Winchester Winder Musket

I know that in a Winchester 1885 single shot action when closing the breech by pulling the lever back up, the hammer goes to full cock as the block comes back up fully. Is a Winchester Winder Musket (made in 1917-1918 or so) designed so that the hammer only goes to half-cock upon completion of the action as opposed to full cock?

  Not sure if it is a design feature, but my Winder goes only to half-cock.

  Hi Benny,
  
  I have a Winchester high wall Winder circa 1917.
  
  When you lower the loading lever part way, it comes back up on the safety notch (or half way as stated above). When I lower it further until it clicks then bring it back up, it goes to full cock but the ejector stays in place. When you drop it all the way down, it also allows the ejector to pop out. Bringing it back up from that position puts it on the safety notch. I'm guessing it is designed that way and assumed that is how it was designed. Maybe not.
  
  Perhaps 'Burt' can help out with the answer if he reads the question. He is an 'old Winchester' guru, extremely knowledgable.
