Redfield Scope Question

I bought my brother a Redfield 2x7 Widefield scope back in 1976 and he told me the clarity is no longer there when he looks through it.
It was fine this pasr deer season but obviously no longer.
I understand that Redfield as we know it as an American company is history [:(] and i told him he may or may not be able to get it repaired to his satifaction.
So just where do we send this nearly 30 year old scope to get it looked at and hopefully repaired??
Lastly,just what year did Redfield quit making scopes in America.
What a mess.

    About a year ago I went through the same excercise. I found out that Weaver bought out Redfield, and has 3 lines of scopes. They recommended a person in Florida that will repair them for about $28 but the waiting list was so long, I took an offer they made for a new scope of my choice for 1/2 list price.

    I sent one in for a customer of mine to be repaired. Waited about 3 months and got a letter saying that the scope needed more than the 28.00 to repair. Sent the additional 87.00 (I think) to them and recieved the wrong scope back around 2 months later. Sent that scope back and finally got the right one back about 3 weeks after that. Was not a good experience and I would not recommend it. Trash it and get a new scope.



    It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

    Seems now days a life time warranty means more like the life of the company.
    That was a good little scope though.
    I paid $98.00 for it back then,which at that time was pretty high.
    I bet some of these Chinese scopes that are costing around a $100.00 will never see 30 years of hard hunting and shooting.

    I owned two that had the so called "lifetime warranty". After the experience of sending them back and being there was no warranty, and there were no parts available to repair them. I junked them and put
    others on. My advice would be to take your loss, junk them, and buy a real scope with a warranty or a company that can repair them/

    Given that it is 30 years old, you can certainly get better optics today, so if it is not his very favorite scope, replacing it would probably be the best option.
