22 rifles, help me decide????

Can someone give me an insite on the following 22 rifles. I want to buy one but want the best for my buck and not just the reputation of the maker. Most of the shooting that I will be doing is target and maybe some Varmit. I have 22 pistols and love the way they shoot. Of these rifles which one is the best for all around target shooting? I know all are clip fed, and that I usually shoot the Remington golden bullet, 36gr. hp. Any information would be helpful in making my decision. Are the cheaper models just as good for the type of shooting that I will be doing. Can't see spending alot of money on a 22 rifle.Thanks again for any information.

    I have a CZ 452 and it will out shoot anything I have ever tried.
    Right out of the box it would shoot under .5 inch groups at 50 yards. With sand bags of course.
    The price for the CZ452 trainer is $219.

    I'd buy the Ruger 10/22 if it was me. It is simply the best of that bunch.

    The best on your list is the Ruger 10/22. Avoid the 597. If you want the utmost in accuracy the CZ is the one,
    They are extremely well made and in the same price range.

    Im with Mr. Myers on this one atleast out of the ones you listed. Scratch those retail prices though you shouldnt pay anything close to those for any of them. I also am a big fan of the CZ line . The Savage triggers are not good and the 597 Rem is junk.

    I read your requirements but those have a way of changing--at least, they have for me. Of the ones you list, the Ruger 10/22 is by far the most CHANGEABLE...that is, there are SO MANY after-market modifications available--precision barrels, stocks, triggers, sights, what-have-you--that it is EXTREMELY versatile. It's been well proven in use for several decades and it continues to be one of the most popular (and popular priced) .22 LR rifles out there.

    I don't own one YET, but it's high on my list of desired acquisitions. Ah, too many guns; too little $$$...

    BTW, glad to hear the "bad news" about the Rem. 597. Who woulda thunk? Also glad to hear of the "tack-driver" CZ. [:)]

    If You are going to use it for target shooting,I would def. say the 10/22, but would not go with the ammo you listed(junk) at least try some cci mini mags .The Remington golden are very cheap and inconsistent. If you are truly looking for a target rifle and dont mind spending a little bit more,the CZ 452 is an outstanding little piece.I have a 452 varmint that punches ragged holes at 50 with Wolf match target ammo

    It is not on your list, but the best buy for the money in a 22 semi-auto is the Thompson Center 22 Classic. It is all steel and wood, has match grade barrel and trigger, and will shoot 1/2" 50 yd groups with good ammo. They can be bought for around $300.

    REALLY consider the 10/22, and look for good used one.
    It is not my favorite 22, but it is very good for the money. The one I have shoots very well. As stated above, it is easily modified if you want. Probably is the be$t buy. ENJOY !
