Puma White Hunter
Always liked the looks. $75-$100 seems to be the auction range. Anyone know anything about the knife or the company? Are "Pre-'64" White Hunters better than those newly manufactured? Is there an inherent flaw/problem to be aware of when looking at these knives? Any legends or lores? You know how it is: Don't think twice about dropping $200 on fur-lined jockstrap but $100 for a knife seems like a lot of money. Any help or info appreciated.

The White Hunter is Puma's premier hunting knife and is famous for it's quality. Puma is making some of their knives in Spain now, but I believe the W. H. is still made in Germany. I carry and use Puma's almost exclusively for work and hunting and am very satisfied with the workmanship and edge-holding ability of them. JMHO

Puma makes very good blades.Top notch actually.They are worth evry penney of what they cost.The White Hunter is still made in Solingen.I will say that for that much money I would go for something from Benchmade in D2 steel or CASEXX.CASEXX to this day has been the sharpest knife I have ever owned and they make a ton of hunting knives.I have a cheap little CASEXX Sodbuster that gets as sharp as a scalpel.D2 holds an edge forever but is next to impossible to sharpen when the edge finally dies.Benchmade has a life sharp feature though where you mail your knife back to them and they sharpen it for free.I say go with a Benchmade Nimravus or CAESXX Slab Side or Bowie.Another good option is a Buck 119.I say CASEXX though. 0 -
On the other hand if you can spend around $200.00 than by all means get a SOG Bowie knife.They make the nicest knife I have ever seen.Exspensive ...yes...worth the money...absolutely!
