Value of 1827 Musket

I have a musket in excellent condition that is engraved
1827 Harpers Ferry. I know some about the battle and that guns were produced at Harpers Ferry. What I would like to know is the approximate value of this historic piece. Or where I can have it appraised.

  Chances are it was originally made as a U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket.
  
  Many were reworked to percussion and rifled prior to the Civil War.
  
  Best thing for you to do would be to get a hands-on appraisal from a knowledgeable and honest, local collector or dealer.

  I second that, especially since I've seen more than a few recently made or modified fakes which will pass more than a cursory inspection. There were many percussion and breechloading replicas manufactured after WWII that have changed hands a few times and been "antiqued". If, on the other hand, you are certain of the provenance, you may have a fine collectible firearm. Good luck.
