REM 870 Rifle Sights Adjustment Quandary

Bought a used 20ga LW Rem 870 fully rifled slug barrel. Barrel looks mint. Barrel appears to be straight as an arrow. However, when sighting in, I can't adjust the sights any further to properly zero in barrel. Rear sight (horizontal adj.) is at its maximum right position. Front sight is shifted about as far left of center as I dare. Barrel is shooting nice, tight groups, but groups are still left of center. Do rifled barrels tend to throw slugs left of center, versus a smoothbore barrel? Has Remington quality control just sunk this low? I can't return the barrel to Remington and claim it is defective, as I bought it used? Any help or suggestions much appreciated. Also, I have tried barrel on two diff 20ga LW receivers with the same result.

    What distance are you attempting to zero at? It is entirely possible that the sights were not mounted correctly and may be off center. Do they appear to be centered on the barrel? You can return the barrel to Remington and send along a few targets to show what is going on. They will make it right.

    I was sighting in at 50 yards. At that distance, with sights maxed out as discussed earlier, group was still approx. 3-4" left of center, with no more room for further adjustment. To my eyes, the front and rear sights appear to be in-line and mounted/centered correctly on the top of barrel. I will contact Remington as per your suggestion.

    Take it to a good gunsmith who has the proper device and he can bend the barrel under pressure to make it shoot correctly.The barrel wont be damaged and you cant look it and tell its been done. This is not very expensive to do.Simplest way out I know of.
