AHLMAN stocks?
i got around to taking the barrel out of the stock on my model 37 rangemaster and found the name "ahlman" stamped in it. my gunsmith said this was a famous custom stockmaker and it was worth more than the rifle itself. anyone heard of this guy? or know the value? thanks in advance

ok i just did a search and prices for ahlman stocks START at 1000 bucks and go up from there. mine is probably in the range of 2000-3000 bucks as they did alot of work to it. (thumbhole stock/normal thumb position depending on your preference, adjustable but extension, sling attachment, offhand grip attachment plus lots of engraving)..i'm going to give them a call and see if i can get an estimate and see what its worth for sure. 0 -

You might be talking about the Ahlmans guns of local fame in SE Minnesota. About 40 miles from me.
They do some really nice work on the custom end and some really reasonable work on the non-custom end. At any given time they also have about 3000 guns on hand, or more. A great shop. They also have a lot of historic information there.

sandwarrior is closest to the answer. "Cap" Ahlman was a
custom stockmaker/gunsmith who did guns for several high profile
people of the 30s, 40s and 50s.
The present day AHLMAN'S is run by his decendants.0 -
yeah this stock is one of the "originals" so i'm guessing it isnt worth as much as i thought unless there is a "collector" out there 0
