Bert H or Winchester experts 1873 UPDATED PICS
Got it tonight and here's what I know so far...

Serial #313672B
Barrel Octagon about 28" w/both sites 38 W.C.F. near reciever (38 cal on brass bottom)
Blueing is 90% or better (not redone as far as I can tell)
Barrel has 2 lines
1)Winchester Repeating Arms New Haven Conn, U.S.A.
2)-Kings Improvement Patented March 29, 1866 . October 16, 1860-
Lever lock works flawlessly and the butt plate cartridge door works like it's new some surface rust on the metal of the butt plate adn some discoloration og about a 3" x 4" area on the stock. No pics yet but I know the owner and it was his great grand dads. Now tell me what I don't know about this beauty..Please.

Hello CHGOTHNDER...
Looks like a nice Winnie[^]. Based onm the serial number, it was manufactured circa 1889. I highly recommend getting a factory letter for it from the Cody Firearms Museum.
If it actually has a 28-inch barrel, it was special ordered (24-inches was standard). Please send me clear photos of all the stamps on the barrel, the buttplate, and each side of the frame. If you can take the photos in natural light (outdoors), they will come out better.

Hello PJ,
It appears to me that the side plates have been reblued, and several other parts (the hammer and lever, and most likely the buttplate, have the wrong type of finish... they should all be color case hardened versus blued). Can you provide clear photos of the address & patent stamp on the barrel (the picture you posted is too fuzzy and too distant).
Based on the new pictures, it has a standard 24-inch barrel, and it is a standard sporting rifle versus being a special order.

Yep, I guessed at the barrel lenght originally but the barrel say's on 2 lines the following.

BTW, the Colt under it I picked up in a trade on tuesday. Thanks Bert for looking.
