    .204 shoots flatter, .22.250 bucks the wind a little better. Don't forget about the .220 Swift too, it's flatter than the .22-250 but still retains the same bullet weights...

    Which ever one you can buy cheapest. The comparison is really about the same. You give alittle to get alittle. Check ammo prices. Which one can be produced cheaper. Usually cant find a cheap 22-250 rd or .204 ruger or not as cheap as a .223 which is slower than a 22-250 but they are the same bullet size.

    I'm gonna' go with the 22-250 for one very simple reason; cartridge availability. There just isn't going to be a guaranteed supply of 204 Ruger at the Farm and Fleet in Pudpounder Oklahoma, but I would bet they would have 22-250 in several weights. 20 caliber bullets tend to be a little spendy, at least at this time, so the 22's and the variety of popular rounds they are used in will be better and more economical in the long run if you reload.

    Lastly, who knows how long the 204 will be in the limelight? It could prove to be a flash in the pan and then like me, you are stuck looking for 225 Winchester brass all the time, and afraid to shoot very much for fear of exhausting your supply!

    i would stay with the 22-250 as 1kyds... said. loaded ammo will be easier to find and cheaper to. no if your rreloading that could ba a diferent story. also at what distances are you planing on shooting the dogs at? any thing over 200 and i would stay with the 22 side.

    For now, .22-250. Much more loading data and bullet selection, not to mention rifles. The .204 is neat, but has it's drawbacks for the time being. We'll see what the future holds for 5mm cartridges. Remington's did not fair well, rimfire or centerfire. Subcaliber guns have had small, devoted followings in the past because they are so spaecialized. Look at the .17 Rem. Great round, like a laser beam out to 200 yards. But it does not buck wind well and loses velocity quickly. I'm betting the .204 will have similar problems, though perhaps less pronounced.

    Save the seals-club a liberal instead.
