J Stevens rifles

Gentlemen,
Does anyone know where one could possibly look up dates of manufacture based on serial #s for old Stevens rifles?

  By the way....where can I find some info on old Stevens? Most interest on "Little Scout" model...Thank you.

  I have a special place in my heart for Stevens firearms.Maybe it's because my first gun was a Model 44 .22LR that originaly belonged to my Great-Grandfather.And yes,I still have it.
  
  Now to the problem.
  
  There is very little,if any recorded "history" as far as production/manufacture dates and the like.
  
  One source of reference that has been of some help is Jay Kimmel's
  
  "Savage & Stevens Arms"
  "Collectors History"
  
  Lots of info on the company's history and it's many firearms,but still,no real info as far as accurate "Dating" of the firearms.[:(]
  
  If there is a better,more thourough source of info on these fine old guns,I'd be the first to jump on it.[:p]
