New GLock 23

I just bought a new glock 23, I have put exactly 100 rounds into it. Today at a gun show i just bought two glock 22 high cap mags. The problem is the slide on chambering the first round is not as smooth as i thought, and you kind of have to slam the magazines in. Is this because the gun is new?, or not properly oiled?

  Is this your first experience with a Glock or other pistol? Just curious if you weren't used to the feel of it going into battery. Also on a glock you only need to lube the 4 metal inserts in the frame that the slide rides on. And dont be afraid to seat the magazine pretty briskly. You aren't going to hurt it.

  THE 22 MAGS ARE LONGER AND WILL MOVE AROUND IF YOU ARE USING THEM AS PART OF THE GRIP. YOU MAY NEED TO BY THE SPACER/SLEEVE THAT SLIDES OVER THE MAG AND TAKES UP THE PLAY BY LOCKING THE BOTTOM OF MAG IN THE WELL. ALSO ARE YOU PULLING THE SLIDE BACK AND LETTING IT GOING TO SLAM IN TO BATT.? IF NOT THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO WITH GLOCKS, THAT SLIDE LOCK RELEASE IS JUST THAT, A LOCK TO HOLD THE SLIDE OPEN IT IS NOT MENT TO BE USED TO RELEASE THE SLIDE IN TO BATT. PULL BACK ON SLIDE ALL THE WAY LET IT GO, TO SLAM IN TO BATT.

  University 50 makes a good point on the slide lock / release that I believe relates to just about all semi-auto pistol especially 1911's and Glocks. Slamming mags into Glocks and all semi-autos is normal. That's the way these meant to work. Don't feel that you are abusing the pistol by slamming the mag home.
