opinions wanted on Tasco or BSA scopes?
I am thinking about trying a BSA platinum or a Tasco varmint scope for some long range target shooting. They are dirt cheap and I have had good luck with Tasco on a few Deer rifles. Has anyone tried either of these and what were the results??

I had good luck on a BSA scope on a low recoiling varmit rifle, but when I moved it to a .300 win mag, it wouldn't hold a zero ever again...
Looking back, it was also a little tricky to get sighted in, it seemed to move too slow, requiring you to go past THEN go back a few turns. I think if I would have left it on that varmit rifle it would have been fine however.0 -

No, that's not exactly true. Bushnell bought only the Tasco name.

(1) First determine if your product was manufactured before or after 9/1/02. Tasco products manufactured before this date did not have a code for the year of manufacture. Tasco products manufactured after 9/1/02 will have this code (See Diagram 1 for help with determining this).

Like bambihunter I've had good luck with BSA and have had a couple of them on 223 calibur rifles but they haven't held up on 308 or larger calibur bolt guns ... send them in and they sent me a new one, warranty is good.
Also like bambihunter, the adjustments can be a little sticky ... tap it with your finger and you don't have to go "past and back".
As with most things, you get what you pay for..

Abo (usa) Inc. in Miami, Fl. will do most tasco scope repairs for about 30 bucks... Sometimes turnaround is slow, but the repairs seem to hold up...

I am a firm believer in that you get what you pay for as well, but a thousand bucks is out of my price range for a leupold varmint scope. Any other suggestions for a good quality reasonably priced scope in the range of 8-25 power would be appreciated. 0 -
I read that Simmons has a new line of scopes coming soon I think they are called Master Series.It will have a crosshair locking system sort of like Burris and a water repellant coating on the lens like Bushnell.I plan to buy an AATEC when they are available. 0
