Gunsmith Help- Beretta Shotgun

I have a Beretta O/U 686 that I use for skeet. On doubles I fire the bottom barrel first.The other day it would not fire the top barrel on doubles. I reversed the barrels and fired the top barrel first and then the bottom barrel and it worked fine.What is the problem do you think? Can I continue to fire the top barrel first or will this eventually do the same thing? I am trying to avoid sending the gun to Beretta for fear of damage or loss thru the mail or UPS.Any help will really be appreciated. Thanks.

  sounds like a sear set transfer bar problem. (nomen?) its the thing that sets the next shot. how old is your gun?

  Hello on a Beretta it is a simple operation to remove the buttstock .This is a box lock action an I believe a good washing of the inside of the action with gunscrubber or like product and then a light re oiling with Balistol I believe will cure your problem . I like Balistol because it is not harmful to the stock/wood when you put the gun back together.
