Attn: Old timers ...Question...

O.K. , my grandfather passed in 1960 , from Cambria , Il. was a gunsmith & built sxs shotguns (one @ a time?), I would like to hear any and all info on his guns & work ...Nobody in the 'family' has a clue !!! His name was Arther 'PoP' Plumlee...

    Hello,
    No I do not have any of these (story is that he made several)? , have an uncle in alaska (his son) who has a couple of them and will not part with them at no means ...He passed when I was really young and nobaody wanted nor saved anything from his shop...All I ended up with was a set of (old) gunsmithing books that the author signed for him ?
    Just would like some info & finding one of the guns would be a dream come true ...

    If he built them "one at a time", odds are that he didn't build very many of them....and probably sold most of them locally.

    You might want to contact your uncle in Alaska and have him tell you how they're marked.....and maybe have him send you some photos.

    Your best chance might be to advertise in the Cambria, IL and nearby area newspapers or to contact any local or area gunshops, send them the info and copies of the pictures, and tell them you'll pay a premium if they can find one for you.

    O.K. , update , made contact with uncle in fairbanks , will be getting info soon ??? by the way , he (grandfather/gunmaker) was very
    well known and made 'several' of his doubles over the years , as per what I have found out so far ...Supposedly sold them (shipped?) to all over the states , thats the reason I hope I may some day find one!!
