Benelli Nova

What is your opinion of the Benelli Nova Pump 20 Gauge, 26", 3"? I've heard they are very good and quite nice to shoot.

    Can someone tell me if these have a chrome lined bore? I'd like to get one ported but am told that it can't be done if they are chrome.

    This is an excellent shotgun for the money, its the only pump shotgun that I'll ever buy for myself again. The plastic you are talkin about is glass reinforced polymer and is very ridged and durable. From experience I can tell you that this gun will function in the worst conditions imaginable without a hitch. Its got a mag stop button on the forarm that is really nice to have out in the field. You can extract the load you have in the chamber and load a more powerful load say you were duck huntin and saw some geese commin in, its also very nice if your dove huntin and walk back to the truck for a drink, unload the chamber have a full mag just incase you get a chance to shoot. The barrel is a matte parkerized finish which mine has never shown any rust spots after being rained on or covered in mud. Another great thing about it is how easy it is to tear down. Simply remove two pins from the receiver and pull the entire trigger assembly out and then just take out the bolt, nothin to it. If your lookin for a pump shotgun this is a great one to get.

    Good value. Recoil is plenty with 3&1/2 inch shells.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    I've seen plenty new Nova's that doesn't rattle - guess they corrected something.

    The Nova is NOT blued - if you dive deeper in the info, you'll find it's coated in a special surface-treatment that is quite tough.
    It will NOT rust.

    Every nonessential surface is coated, and is thereby protected - the surfaces that come in contact with other surfaces, are non-coated and these are the only places it might rust.
    Those surfaces are just every other shotgun - unprotected.

    I've had a Benelli Nova for over a year. I have been very impressed with it. Balance is excellent and it is very quick on backup shots. Proved to be an outstanding quail shooter for me. I added an Ithaca rifled slug barrel to it and have shot the best slug groups of any shotgun I've ever tested. Trigger takes some getting used to but once you get through that, it is a fine shotgun. Its length of pull may be a bit long for some short armed, stocky guys but it works excellent for me.

    It is a great gun. Yes it rattles but that can easily be fixed. It is also a great buy for the value. Plus it has some nice features that are a plus. One thing I really like about the gun is the very easy disasembly.

    ok guys i bought one, basic black, 24" bbl, came with three choke tubes, now , next question, whats a good turkey choke for the nova and whos got a price on a slug bbl?


    love the mag stop, finish looks like powder coat to me, this one doesnt rattle after 100 rds, thanks guys. btw how does the mag plug come out?

    I am sorry if I am bringing up an old topic but I have to ask a question. What slugs do you use with your nova and Ithaca barrel? Also is your barrel the open sight or does it have the cantaleiver scope mount?

    I got the Ithaca with the cantaleiver scope mount a mueller red dot shotgun scope and I can not get any slugs to groupe at 50 yards. They are all over the place. I have tried Lightfields, federal barnes expander, winchester partition gold and 1 other I think. None of which would shoot worth a doodoo. Needless to say I am extreamly frustrated.

    Also after looking at the Benelli site at the nova slug gun it appears that they dont make there own slug barrel for this gun. The cantaleiver barrel on there nova slug gun looks 100% identical to the Ithaca slug barrel right down to the markings on it. Anybody have any insight on this? I need some serious help here!
