remington 660
Please help me date this rifle. It is a carbine in 243 win. and it has a older springfield 4x scope. My dad is selling it to me for $250 but I want to know how old it is. Serial 10827x. As always thanks for your replies.

I have a remington .243 model 660 with an older 3x9 leupold scope. Gun has been in a safe for the last few years and I bought it from a friend whose mom was the owner of the rifle and only shot it a few times. I have put a couple boxes through the gun and its still in great shape. What price range should I be asking for this gun? thanks for the help. 0 -
Click on this link. If your carbine was made before 1972, their should be a code on the barrel just forward of the receiver on the left hand side.

only code I can find is 9 lr 18 0 -
Then the "LR" would be the code (I'm assuming) which would indicate a manufacture date of 1968.

If that 660 is in good shape, get down on your knees and thank your DAD. He is basically GIVING you one of the best deer rifles ever made, in my honest opinion.
A great little rifle in a great deer caliber. Easy to carry, great looking, light recoil, AND accurate.
Does the trigger guard have the "belly" in it. If it does, and it bothers you, replacements made of aluminum or steel are available, but don't lose the original!! This gun, in good shape is only going to go up in value.
According to Gun List 2005 Catalog, it's current value ranges from $200.00 in poor shape to $500.00 in excellent shape.
I have a 660 in 350 Rem mag. I love it.
