value of rifles
I have a neighbor wanting to get rid of 2 rifles. I would like to offer her a fair price. One is an 03 Springfield in the 1200000 serial no. area. On the barrel it is marked SA under it is the flaming bomb with the date 5-20 under it. Stock is marked with s square with the SA inside with the letters AAZ on the grip. There are serveral other letters and circles and square behind the trigger guard I can't make out. It has a tan canvas sling with brass ends and a locking mechanism that has an anchor on the inside. This rifle also has 2 holes drilled in the stock toward the end at the butt. Did this have a purpose. Also she has a Japenese Arisaka but I have never seen one like this. It is 38 inches overall with an 18 1/2 in. barrel. It has the flower on it with Japenese writing under it. It has a 5 diget serial no. with 2 circle type proof marks on either side with one more proof mark on the right side. There are several proofmarks under the flip sights. The sling swivels are on the right side. Hope I have enough info on these weapons. What would some of you think a fair price would be for these weapons. I know it's difficult without seeing them but I've described them best I can. Thanks.

If your sure about the dimensions of the Japanese Carbine? It sounds like a "Hook Safety" Carbine. Quite rare and desirable to a collector, as long as it's arsenal original, and BUBBA hasn't got his hands on it.
The (2) characteristics that identify it are a "Hook" that protrudes from the rear left side of the bolt, and it also lacks a upper handguard.
My 2? is that if is arsenal original in very good condition or better, it would be at least in the $400 - $600 range.
Found a couple of pictures of a Hook-Safety Carbine on the net. Unfortunately their not of the best quality.
