Coin Finish Durability ?

I have a CZ shotgun made in Turkey.I just bought the gun. It has a coin finished receiver which appears to be a dull silver in color.Can anyone tell me how durable this finish is and is it a coating on metal or is this the color of the metal with no coating? Any help you can provide would surely be of help. Thanks

    This sounds like something YOU should be reporting after a few years of use. There connot be enough of them out their to have any experience with the "durability of the coin finish" at this point. JMHO

    No, it is not nickel. Their website calls it a coin finish. It looks like an old worn silver coin. Just thought someone might have an idea or an experience with this.

    There are different ways to apply that type of finish, the most common being various methods of electroless chrome or another nitride finish. As little as five years ago I would not have given you a plugged nickel for most of the Turkish finishes, but since they have been gathering a larger market-share here in the States they have improved greatly.

    Take care of it and it should hold up just fine.
