S&W 1000 20 gauge semi auto shotgun
I saw one of these in mint condition at a local gunshop. The prie is right, I believe, but I am wondering about availability of parts if something breaks. It is about twenty years old, but looks like brand new. No screw in chokes, just a fixed IC vent rib barrel.

sounds like a field grade. should be around 275.00
gas piston o ring melt down is the #1 problem on that gun.

I have had trouble(nothing really major) with every gas operated shotgun I have ever owned that was gas operated with a O ring seal; Remington 1100, Winchester Super X, S&W 1000, etc. If you have one the best thing to do is just buy several replacement O rings and keep them handy as it is very quick and easy to change one. My father had one of the S&W 1000 shotguns in 12 gauge which he shot skeet and doves with and he really liked it, even better than his Browning. 0 -
The S&W 1000 doesn't use an O-ring in it's gas system. It uses a rubber washer that looks like a garden hose washer for a recoil shock buffer. Oil and solvent will decompose them and cause the piston pin to slam into the bottom of the slot on the mag tube. Pull off the forend and check that area before buying. The gas pressure compensation valve is the only real hard to find part now.
