value of commemorative winchester model #94 30-30.
Hello. I am wondering if anyone may know the value of a Winchester 30-30, model #94 rifle, that is a commemorative Teddy Roosevelt edition. It has an octagon barrell,and roosevelts picture is on the side of the rifle, I have the opportunity to buy one asking price is $1000. I would greatly appreciate any information regaurding this item. Thank you.

$1000 is simply way too much $$$ for that particular commemorative Model 94. In general, none of vast number of different Winchester commemorative Model 94s are worth much more than $500. Winchester simply made WAY too many of them, and there is not a big collector market for them (which is what is required to cause them rise in value).
Commemoratives are a very poor firearm to purchase for a number of reasons... (1) you can not shoot one (to do so ruins the collector value), (2) you must keep them in (or with) their original box and paperwork, and (3) handling too frequently will also detract from ther value.
