winchester 69?72?
i bought a winchester model 69 bolt thinking it would fit my model 72 it fits be will not slide back without pulling down on cartrige lifter..is there anyway to make a 69 bolt work in 72?Thanks

Don't think so Toby. The 69 was a cock-on-closing bolt. The 72 and 69a bolts cock on opening. Never had a 69 bolt in my hand, so I don't know for certain. I think that you need to sell that 69 bolt and try to find one for a 69a or 72.

i did forget..the bolt i bought is a 69a...the only difference i see is at the bottom of the bolts.. 0 -
I'm not a gunsmith but I used to own both a 72 and a 69(still do on the 69) the reason they won't exchange is that the feeding device of the 72 is a tube and there is an extra slot in the bolt to pick up the cartridge from the feeding elevator. The 69 feeds in a straight line motion. They're both awesome guns and great values that will go up in$$$ 0
