old contender and g2 bbl interchangability

Are the bbls for these two guns totally interchangable with no smith? I want to get a 23" g2 bbl but have the old style frame[:)].

In addition, all of the 16?" and 21" barrels made for the old style Contender will readily fit the new G2 frame. The high comb on the buttstock allows the shooter's eye to be in perfect alignment when using a scope."

The Original Contender and the NEW G2 Contender use the same barrels and
forends. However, the stocks and grips are different and do not interchange.

I have a new G2 frame and several older barrels and so far they have all fit on the new frame with out any problems , the butt stock for the G2 will NOT fit on the old frames
