Remington 870 Experts--Integral Lock on new 870's

Someone offered me an old non-locking safety to swap out with the integral locking safety on the new Remington 870's (which I detest from previous BAD experiences with a Remington 597).

Is it possible to swap an old safety for the new safety found on the new 870's?
