M1 Garand Barrel

On gauging the M1 grand barrel what is the ME and what is the TE? What should they be on a good barrel? Mine needs to be replaced. I don't know what it has been used for but thr rifling does not come to the end of the barrel.

  I have a Springfield Armory M1 Garand. Its wood is in perfect shape, and the receiver and action look good. The barrel is shot, though, and I've been told that it needs to be replaced.
  Is this barrel a viable replacement, or is there another source for M1 Garand barrels?

  There's no point in putting a commercial copy of a M1D barrel on a service grade M1 rifle. You don't want - or need - the integral scope mount.
  
  Just about any local gunsmith should be able to install a barrel for you; you want a "USGI" barrel, new or slightly used. If you have no one local, you might talk to:

  You can contact Springfield Armory direct, they offer reasonable rebarreling and acceptable turnaround time. Another great source is www.fultonarmory.com a bit more pricey, but some excellent services offered. Good Luck. db
