    Chris, send me your email addy and I'll send you an 11 or 12 page owners manual I scanned to my PC.

    Trap, thanks, I called S&W this morning and believe it or not, they still had an owners manual for the shotgun! They have not sold them in 20 years, but they had one laying around to send to me.

    There's some tricks to pulling it all the way down, if you have a problem, don't hesitate to email me for help. I can't believe they still had manuals! Mossberg made them for a couple of years after S&W discontinued them too, and used the same model #'s. Order some new piston recoil shock absorber rubber washers from Numrich. It's good to have spares, and a good time to change one while it's apart![;)] I recently saw some 20ga. bbl's for sale on ebarf too if you're interested.

    TRAP, dont be so stingy. There are other owners of Model 1000's who don't know anything about them. Me, for example.
    I got mine at an estate auction, no papers or anything. Can it be made to accept more than two in the magazine? I read somewhere that I could remove a pin in the mag tube and increase it's capacity to three+1 in the chamber. I am having a lttle trouble getting used to the auto-shucker. I find myself trying to work the slide, and missing second shot opportunities. I hope I don't succeed in moving that fore-end.OL

    Tigger, I'm lol with the mental image of you trying to pump that gun! Yes, you can add 1 more to the mag "after" the pin is removed.
    You have to break it all the way down because the action bar sleeve is covering it. It runs thru the mag tube and is a split pin. It takes a good hard whack to knock it out, so be sure you support the mag tube when you do so it doesn't deform it.The pin has a big and small end, the small end will be split,thats the end to size a pin punch to. It's part# 39 in the schematic.
    Besides the rubber shock absorber(Part# 38), it's good to have a spare Pressure Comp. valve, thats the 1st piece under the forend cap(Part# 46). Numrich's supply of the 12ga valves has dried up and thats the one part that will go and the gun stops working. I'm working on something to see if I can get a thousand or so made for the 12ga. if it's $$$ feasable.

    Thanks, TRAP. Everyone says it is fun to watch. Now when I go back to the slide, I wonder if I'll remember how. Thanks for the tip on the pin and the parts. I'll hahe to get out the old Visa and visit Numrich.
