Lake City 50 BMG Brass
I'm looking for 50 BMG brass for reloading. I saw some for sale that was headstamped LC 02. Anyone know about quality? or where I can get a good supply of good brass? Thanks in advance

How much brass are you looking for and what gun are you loading for? Any brass stamped after 1970 should be fine. Try to buy brass that has not been fired in the M2HB's. This will limt you to brass made after 1990. I have a small amount of brass fired from Barrett's !!

Stick with the US made brass - it is as good as any and better than most. LC is Lake City - our one remaining government arsenal, although it is operated by Federal for the gov't.

Actually, Lake City is operated By a company called ATK which is a spinoff from Allied Signal. They own Federal, RCBS, Shooters Ridge as well as herules powder (now Alliant powder). As Iconoclast said LC stands for Lake City and the 02 means it was manufactured in 2002'. I can tell you firsthand that it is good milspec brass. Most likely, it was originally loaded as m-33 ball and some spec was slightly out such as velocity, standard deviation, or watervac tests failed due to mouth leakers. At that point, it was either sold commercially or torn down and the components recovered and sold commercially. 0
