S&W Year of Manufacture

My Fjestad book is to old to cover this S&W model 500. The serial number is CHL9439XXX. Can someone tell me how old it is?

    I just bought a Smith & Wesson Victory Model 4" barrel excellent plus condition, only slight holster wear, U.S. Navy marked, but is missing lanyard ring. How do I find the year of manufacure?

    What caliber is it? They were manufactured between 1942 to 1945.[:)]
