Grandfathers Estate.....Identify help!
Hello, my granfather recently passed. I aquired 5 rifles. 3 are odviously newer, 2 appear very old. I intend on selling all of them. I searched all over GB and couldn't find a comparison. Is there a way to post pictures here for help?
1. Bishop Serial 85176 all carved wood with deer ect.
2. J. Stevens Arms Co. Barrel has "High Pressure One Piece Barrel" - thats it.
3.Handi Rifle SB2 Cal. 223 Rem
4.Sako L691 Cal. 270 WIN
5.Savage Model 110 Cal 300 WIN MAG
Any info, links, values, ect would be greatly appreciated.

Here's instructions for posting pictures. I got them off a MilSurp site.
First thing you need is a site to host your picture. What I mean by that is that you will need to upload your pictures to a web site that will host(display) them for you. You should not use your hard drive to host pictures for safety sake. Use www.photobucket.com to host your pictures.
After you have uploaded your pictures to the site that will host them for you(per their directions), the next thing you will want to do is go to the picture hosting site and view the picture. While you are viewing the picture, right click on it and you'll see another window that should pop up, now click on "properties" and copy the picture URL. If you know how to "copy & paste" this will be a piece of cake.
Now that you have the picture URL and your ready to post your picture. Do the following, use the following code except take out the "*" asterisk. The "*" asterisk is used here only so you can see the code. In other words if I posted the code without the "*" asterisk you will see a picture instead of the code. Anyways use this code to post your picture..

The Stevens appears to be a single-shot shotgun. I have a similar one in my book, thats identified as the model 107.
From the markings on it, it was manufactured between 1916 & 1942.
They were made as inexpensive utility guns, and have little value on todays market. My 2 ? between $25 & $75.0 -

The 'Bishop' is a 7.7 Jap. action - prolly chambered for another cal.0 -
The " bishop" is actually the manufacturer of the stock blank, likely you got th ename off of the butt plate of the rifle. It appears to be a Japanese Arisaka military rifle that has been heavily modified. maybe $200-300,
The handi rifle is a $200 rifle when new, I would expect it to bring $150 at auction.
Used Savage 110's bring about $300 in my neck of the woods.
the stevens shotgun should be about $25-40 with the broken stock.

Yes the "Bishop" is on the butt. I did look closer at it. On the barrel there is 30 06 and some japanese lettering that I missed until you said that. It looked like part of the designs in the metal engravings. 0 -
Also there is a note on the SAKo, that says it has never been fired. The inside of the chamber is perfectly clean. If that matters at all. 0 -

The sporterized Japanese Army Rifle, the Savage 110 & the Sako are Bolt Action Rifles.
Of all your grandads guns, the Sako is the most valuable. There are (2) gun auctions and (1) brokerage on the net. Try to find rifles that "SOLD" similar to the Sako and the Savage, to get an idea of the fair market value of these two. Which you are most likely to get the most money out of.0 -
The Savage is a 110E the most inexpensive the make. They go from 150 and up to 250 depending on condition and accessories that come with it.quote:Originally posted by dragonlady509
