38-40 shotshell

I have one cartridge that appears to be a 38-40 and matches on very well side by side, but the nose is made of paper folded like a bullet and full of shot. Case head has no stamp for manufacturer. What is it and when was it made?

  Hello 333_OKH...
  
  It is exactly what it appears to be... a 38-40 shotshell. Winchester manufactured them from about 1890 - 1925.
