Good New's on Ruger #1 Rifles

For any body that has experience with them, We all know their all Show and No go, Most of them any way. The problem with them is the forearm, If you do not touch the forearm they will shoot great, touch the forearm and your target will look like you shot it with a shot gun.

Their is an Aftermarket Part you can buy from Brownell's its called a Hicks Accusizer that lets you tune the barrell and it works, Cost's about $45.00 and you have to take some of the wood out of the inside of the forearm to get it to fit, Makes a good looking Rifle shoot GOOD.

I know, I just bought my #1 in 375 H&H Went to the range 4 times with it and was not happy about the acc. put the hicks on and put 7 shoots in to one jaged hole at 100 yards, with that size of a slug it's a big Jaged hole.

    I have had good luck free floating the barrels on the #1 rifles also. You glass bed the forearm at the hangar, and at the receiver, and end up being able to slide a few sheets of paper between the barrel and forearm all the way to the receiver. Cost about $8 for the accuglass kit. If that doesn't work on one, then I would try the above item too.

    Wasn't there a 'fix' for the guns using rubber o'rings in some fashion or another?Now THAT would be a cheap fix!! :)

    Quick fix is a small flat washer between hanger and forearm. May have to grind to shape to fit in hole but it works by free floating fore end.
