Old Marlin 60 question. . .

I've seen a bunch of old ones of these around for sale (there must be a million of them out in circulation), and I know that the newer models have the last shot bolt hold open.

Is it possible to convert one of the older rifles to lock the bolt open on the last shot? (Is it easy/worth it?).

Are there any other nifty tricks/tips/mods for these guns?

    possible, yes; economical, no. same as the first m-60's ejector (a small 'bump' on the soft feed throat), wear this out and you might as well junk the rifle. you could convert it to the newer style but you could also buy a new rifle for less money.

    Old question, I'm bringing it up again hoping for a little more detailed response.

    I fully realize that used Marlin 60s go for $75 (or less), and that
    parts and labor quickly become limiting factors when working on these.

    If I wanted to install a last-shot hold-open on an older gun, what part(s) would I need and how would I do it?
