10/22 stock question.
A buddy just bought a used 10/22 at a pawn shop.When I got here to post,I had forgotten the three digit prefix,but I "think" it was "228",which would put it's birth date in 1988.
My question is about the stock.It's a very light "blond" and is laminated.Did Ruger put this stock on it? Or is it maybe an aftermarket?
As a side note,it's configured exactly like the standard carbine stock and the gun is the standard blue w/black reciever,trigger group,bbl. band and plastic butt plate.

I'm no expert dispite the forum name, but I think Ruger started offering 10/22 w/ laminated stocks in '96. Here is a question along the same line:
I tried to order a 10/22 S.S. w/ checkered walnut stock from my local dealer. He checked and said that it wasn't available. A month later I saw on in WM and bought it. Maybe it was a discontinued model.
Your thoughts guys?

No, I asked my local dealer to get me a SS/walnut and was told it wasn't available. By chance, while in Wal-Mart in scenic Brownsberg, I saw one on display and bought it. As I said, maybe this 10/22 might have been a few years old.
Anyway I got what I wanted. I want to build a 10/22 based pistol. The only 80% receiver I have found is SS. Naturaly I wanted the donor rifle to be SS also.

The blond stock is model 10/22RB_NZ. Made in 1993 for Csi Dist. 4000 of these guns were made as per William Workmans fine book.

This model 12-22-Rb-NZ (N sanding for natural maple)was made for 3 different distributors All Sports, CSI and Henrys 4,000 guns were produced in 1994. CSI and All Sports offered the rifle as a package deal with Bushnell Sharpshooter Scope and rings.
Serial Numbers should be in the 237-xxxxx nuber range although a fewmight be in the 235-xxxxx range.
Laminates were first offered in 1986.
